Hello, I am Richard Harker, an independent kitchen designer. I recommend and supply DIY Kitchens as part of my design services due to the amazing prices and services on offer.
I started my kitchen design career at MFI. Over the last 20 years in the industry I have worked in several roles including kitchen designer, showroom manager, regional manager, Head of Trade and more recently set up my own interior design company, Beau Bijou Design.
My experience has allowed me to build amazing industry contacts with whom I work closely to get my customers the best products at the best prices. It also enabled me to learn from lots of amazingly talented individuals and perfect my design skills and kitchen knowledge.
I believe all customers want a beautiful kitchen but some feel that this can be out of reach. I design using the best software and create beautiful kitchen designs with a high end look and feel for a fraction of the cost.
Working with DIY Kitchens was a no brainer for me. The product and service is fantastic and the prices are extremely competitive but they do not offer a design service.
I have agreed a deal with DIY Kitchens whereby my customers pay the normal price and I claim my fee back by way of discount. I can do this due to the volume of orders I bring to DIY Kitchens so everyone wins!
With over 5,000 completed designs, you can rely on me to craft your dream kitchen and tailor it to your needs and personality. We start with a free consultation call. During this call, we discuss your ideas and get to know how you will use your kitchen. Then it is down to the kitchen design. Providing you with technical drawings, ultra realistic images, full product listing and DIY Kitchens price.
During the design process, there may be opportunities to source products elsewhere to save you more money. I will provide any money saving recommendations within the documentation.
I guarantee my work with a plan accuracy guarantee. If I make a mistake with your kitchen order, I will pay for replacement products.
In order to receive the full design pack, you must place your order for your DIY Kitchen through Beau Bijou Design.
The design fee is just £200 and £99 to place the order. In order to start the process, I ask for this payment which is refunded or discounted from the DIY Kitchens price at the point of order, whichever is your preference.
Once I complete the design, I will send you ultra realistic images and final DIY Kitchens price. We will discuss in detail every part of the kitchen design so you understand fully what you are buying. You can make as many changes as you like and once you are satisfied, you place the order.
We used Beau Bijou to plan our ‘DIY Kitchens’ kitchen , and Richard was brilliant. The plan and design were better than anything we had from the other kitchen retailers we had visited and we saved money ordering the units from DIY Kitchens. Richard also advised on appliances, worktops and took the time to speak to our fitter as well about some queries he had. He held our hand through the whole design and installation process and was on hand to offer advice throughout.
I love the whole concept and our values and vision are aligned. DIY Kitchens offer the best possible product for the price. They have streamlined their business in a way that its operations are extremely cost effective. DIY Kitchens are primarily online and work remote saving millions. This saving allows them to sell kitchens at amazing prices. Nobody else offers units of this quality for the price.
Whilst operating this way means great prices, it does make it difficult for lots of customers to access the product. Designing a kitchen is an art and something that comes with a great deal of experience and knowledge. This is where my DIY Kitchens Designer service comes in. My clients love the fact that they can get fantastic products at great prices but designed by an interior designer and not a showroom sales person.
There are other DIY Kitchen designers, the vast majority of whom also offer an amazing service. I go a step further by providing the service free of charge and include all of the additional benefits listed above.
Whilst I love DIY Kitchens, I am aware, there are a few products that DIY Kitchens do not sell. Therefore, do not be put off if you don’t see everything you want for your new kitchen. Just let me know and I will source it for you and ensure it is delivered to you in time for installation and all added to the same quote to keep your full kitchen together in one place!

If you would like to use Beau Bijou Design as a pure kitchen design service and order your kitchen yourself through DIY Kitchens, this is of course an option. The price is the same but you can make all of your own changes and try different colours and products to tailor your own budget. Although I will ensure at the point of quote your quote is 100% accurate to the plan with everything you need, I do not offer delivery co-ordination or accuracy guarantee as you can make your own changes to your order.
All other services remain the same and this is a fantastic option for those customers who have not yet decided on colours, styles etc and maybe a more long term project. This service costs just £200 and £99 to create your basket. The fee is of course refundable if you decide to come back to me to place your order at a later date.
What happens if I decide to buy from another company?
As you have already paid the design fee, you can order your kitchen from anywhere. We are more than happy to help with your purchase from your chosen retailer in any way we can. We currently have accounts with Howdens, Wren Kitchens, Magnet, Arlington Design (Leeds), PWS, Bray Interiors (Huddersfield), Waterside Kitchens and Bathrooms (Doncaster) and DIY Kitchens but will happily discuss other options.
How do I pay you?
I accept Bank transfers, credit and debit cards including Mastercard or cash.
Do you sell kitchens?
Yes. I offer 2 fantastic ranges of German Kitchens. These are high end kitchens available at trade prices. I do not focus on this and this service is reserved for customers where I feel these kitchens are the right fit. The vast majority of my customers source from DIY Kitchens or other suppliers. I will only offer these kitchens to customers within the West Yorkshire area.
Do you install?
Installation is currently available in West Yorkshire and as referral only as I want customers to get the best possible price. As I grow the installer network, I will add more regions but the priority is ensuring I get the right teams that share values and offer exceptional quality.
Can you measure my space?
Home visits are currently available in the North of England. This is chargeable at around £100 depending on location. Please ask for more details.
Can I mix and match suppliers?
Yes! This a huge benefit of using Beau Bijou Design. As mentioned above, I will not limit your design possibilities by the products available at DIY Kitchens (Unless you want me to). Although I call this service “The DIY Kitchens Designer”, I am happy to help source any product for you that will either save you money or give you a better design or higher quality finish.
