Which is the Best Kitchen Supplier for you?
As a truly independent kitchen design company, we have the ability to source from and recommend virtually every major kitchen supplier in the UK. From the national retail chains to the premium independent manufacturers that most homeowners have never heard of. We are not tied to any of them commercially in a way that influences our recommendations. Whether we recommend a supplier depends entirely on how they perform across the factors that matter most to our customers: Quality, range, value, service, delivery accuracy and how quickly they resolve problems when things go wrong.
This guide gives you our honest assessment of a good selection of kitchen suppliers. Some of these names you will know immediately. Others you may never have come across and that is often where the most interesting options are found. The best kitchen for your budget and brief may not come from the brand with the biggest advertising spend. It almost certainly comes from the supplier that best matches your specific requirements.
We have organised this guide by supplier so you can jump straight to the names you are already considering or find out about options you may not have explored yet.
One important note before you read on — no supplier is perfect for every customer. The best supplier for one person’s brief, budget and priorities may be entirely wrong for another’s. What we have tried to do here is give you an honest picture of each one so you can make an informed decision — or better still, let us make it for you on a free consultation call once we understand exactly what you need.

Wren Kitchens
Wren is the UK’s largest kitchen retailer. Our MD spent eleven years working there across roles from designer to head of trade, and several of our designers have Wren experience too, so this assessment comes from the inside!
How to buy Direct through Wren showrooms. Beau Bijou Design has a referral relationship. If Wren is right for you we can support your project at the same price as going direct. We will be honest: it is not a supplier we actively recommend for most customers.
What Wren does well Large showrooms with a wide range. Soft close throughout as standard. Units mostly fully built with doors pre-fitted. Up to seven years interest free credit. This is genuinely useful if finance matters to you.
What to know before you buy Wrapped doors have generated notable complaints about delamination after a few years. Painted doors have also attracted reports of chipping. The door warranty is five years. Issues can appear before and after that. Designer experience varies significantly between showrooms — from highly skilled to as little as one to two weeks training.
Wren uses the word bespoke to describe their Infinity Plus range. In our view this means made to order from pre-defined sizes and not truly custom. If you need something outside standard dimensions, Wren cannot deliver it.
Pricing reflects the cost of large showrooms and subsidised interest free credit. For customers paying cash, better value is available elsewhere for a comparable or better product.
Who it suits Customers who need long term interest free credit and find the right kitchen within the Wren range.
Beeck Küchen
In our honest opinion, one of the finest kitchen manufacturers in the world. Not a name most homeowners know. Beeck does not advertise nationally. It competes entirely on quality.
How to buy Available through around 50 independent showrooms at broadly list price. Through Beau Bijou Design you access a 30% discount off RRP.
Why Beeck stands apart Beeck uses high density MFC board. It is structurally superior to standard UK board. Carcasses are 19mm — thicker than the 16mm German standard and most 15 to 18mm UK products. Every kitchen is manufactured off the plan rather than assembled from stock, which is why in all our experience of supplying Beeck we have never received a delivery with a damaged or missing item. Not once.
57 door styles. 878 standard colours. Fully bespoke dimensions. Every height, width, depth and plinth height specified individually. Over 50 carcass colours, all Egger board. PEFC certified timber. CARB2 compliant for low formaldehyde emissions.
Pricing Our average Beeck order runs £25,000 to £30,000 for units. Approximately 50% more than Wren and no comparison in quality, flexibility or delivery performance.
Who it suits Customers who want the finest German kitchen available, have a budget of £25,000 or above for units, and place quality above all other considerations.
Magnet Kitchens
One of the UK’s longest established kitchen retailers, manufacturing all cabinetry in the UK. Which? Best Buy for six consecutive years and a strong Trustpilot record. In our assessment a genuine step above Wren in product quality.
How to buy Direct through Magnet showrooms with finance available. Beau Bijou Design can source at trade pricing which is largely the same as going direct but with our independent design service included. Note: finance is only available through Magnet directly.
What Magnet does well Solid British manufacture. Good range covering shaker, modern and handleless styles with paint to order options. Structured buying experience with generally experienced designers. 10 year cabinet guarantee.
What to know Some customer reviews report uneven doors, chipped edges and slow aftersales response. Replacement lead times can run one to two weeks — worth factoring into installation planning. Like Wren, Magnet uses the word bespoke in marketing but works within pre-defined sizes and configurations.
Who it suits Customers who want a reliable British kitchen with a good range and need finance, or who want our independent design service wrapped around the Magnet product at no additional cost.
Life Kitchens
One of the best kept secrets in the UK kitchen market. Life does not advertise nationally — the product speaks for itself. We have been so impressed that we have extended our Hebden Bridge showroom specifically to accommodate their kitchens.
How to buy Direct from Life’s London showrooms at around 10% off RRP. Through Beau Bijou Design you access an exclusive 30% off RRP, a significant saving on a premium product.
Why we recommend Life Kitchens 27 carcass colours versus the three to five typically offered by high street retailers. Blum components as standard throughout. Antaro entry level, Legrabox upgrade, dovetail timber drawer boxes available too. Units arrive fully built with doors and drawers pre-fitted. Bespoke colours and sizes available.
Lead times two to six weeks. Replacement parts typically within two working days — one of the fastest in the industry. We have a dedicated account manager, dedicated customer service contact and direct access to the MD. In our experience the quality and service have been consistently exceptional.
Who it suits Mid-market customers with a budget of £5,000 to £25,000 who want a significantly better product than the high street at a comparable price. Our most frequently recommended supplier for this budget range.
Howdens Joinery
The UK’s largest kitchen manufacturer by volume and one of the least understood by homeowners. Our MD spent time as a Howdens depot manager, so this assessment comes from direct experience.
How to buy Trade only. You cannot purchase as a homeowner. The typical route is through a fitter with a Howdens account. Beau Bijou Design holds a Howdens account and can source on your behalf, giving you independent oversight of specification and pricing. If you are struggling to access Howdens, contact us to discuss.
What Howdens does well Same day collection from local depots making them unmatched for speed. Good for rental properties, contract work and projects where timeline is critical.
What to know before you buy Everything is picked from warehouse stock. Products can sit on shelves for years before dispatch. Missing and damaged deliveries are more common than with suppliers who manufacture to order. Replacements are usually available same day from the depot, which helps but as we say to customers, the need for a fast replacement is a symptom of a problem that shouldn’t exist.
Pricing is inconsistent and opaque. The same product can vary significantly between depots and account holders depending on the depot manager’s margin targets that day. There is no published price list for homeowners to reference.
The warranty sits with the trade account holder, your fitter, not you. If your relationship with your fitter breaks down, resolving warranty claims directly with Howdens becomes very difficult.
Who it suits Customers with a trusted fitter who holds a strong Howdens relationship, or those prioritising speed above all else. Not our first recommendation for a significant home renovation.
Hallas & Hill
Our own brand, and the kitchen we are most proud of. Hallas & Hill has no catalogue, no standard range and no pre-defined products. Every kitchen is designed from scratch with the customer, specified component by component, and manufactured to that exact specification.
How to buy Exclusively through Beau Bijou Design. A £299 design deposit begins the process, deducted from the kitchen price on order. Up to three years interest free credit available.
What makes it different Every component is specified individually. Carcass from over 80 colours, door designed in precise detail before manufacture, Blum Legrabox as standard with dovetail timber options, Egger board throughout, 25 year warranty. Manufactured by one of the most respected factories — whose identity we cannot disclose due to NDA, but who supply some of the country’s most prestigious kitchen brands.
In all our experience supplying Hallas & Hill, damaged and missing deliveries are extraordinarily rare, second only to Beeck on this list.
The one honest caveat: you cannot see your kitchen before it arrives. It does not exist until it is made. What we offer instead is a photorealistic render of your exact kitchen so you can see precisely what is coming, and a track record of 100% five star reviews. A kitchen that might cost £45,000 to £55,000 from a premium showroom brand typically costs £25,000 to £35,000 through Hallas & Hill.
Who it suits Customers who want something that cannot be found in any showroom or catalogue or those looking for more premium, Tom Howley quality and style kitchens at half the price. We do not recommend Hallas & Hill to every customer — if another supplier better fits your brief we will say so.
Pebble Kitchens
A Bristol based manufacturer with a quietly exceptional reputation among independent designers. Pebble does not chase the high street, it focuses entirely on product and service, and it shows.
How to buy Available through independent showrooms at broadly RRP. Through Beau Bijou Design you access a 30% discount off RRP. Direct nationwide delivery from Bristol via a two man service.
Why Pebble stands out Four distinct carcass construction tiers — Classic, Modern Premium Lite, Modern Premium and Premium. Each with a meaningfully different specification. Classic uses 18mm Egger board with Blum Antaro drawers. Modern Premium upgrades to Legrabox with premium decors including stone, leather and woodgrain effects. Premium moves to 19mm oak veneered MDF throughout with solid oak dovetail drawer options. Every unit arrives fully assembled.
Over 80 carcass colours. Broad door range covering every major style. In our direct experience of dozens of deliveries, damaged and missing items are rare and when replacements are needed, one to two weeks is typical.
Who it suits Customers who want genuine flexibility at the structural level of their kitchen. From a solid well-made product at Classic level through to premium in-frame specification at the top — at a price made significantly more accessible through our 30% trade discount.
Brigitte Küchen
One of the world’s largest kitchen manufacturers. Part of a group that also owns Kuhlmann and manufactures kitchens for Villeroy & Boch. Despite this, almost unknown in the UK. That gap between reputation and awareness is exactly where the value lies.
How to buy Available through around 20 UK independent showrooms at broadly list price. Through Beau Bijou Design you access a 30% discount off RRP. Up to three years interest free credit available subsidised by the manufacturer, so it does not inflate the product price.
Why Brigitte is worth knowing about Fully bespoke German manufacture. Every unit dimension specified individually, RAL colour matching on doors, Blum components throughout. Comparable in positioning to Nobilia but with genuine bespoke flexibility rather than pre-defined configurations. Direct delivery from Germany in five to ten weeks.
In our limited but positive experience of supplying Brigitte, right first time delivery performance has been excellent.
Who it suits Customers who want a genuine German bespoke kitchen with interest free credit at a price point broadly comparable to Pebble — and for customers who aspire to Villeroy & Boch quality, this is the most direct route available through us.

Find Your Perfect
Kitchen Supplier
Answer a few questions about your project and we'll identify the two suppliers best matched to your brief, budget and priorities.
So Which Kitchen Supplier is Actually the Best?
The honest answer is that there is no single best kitchen supplier. There is only the best supplier for your specific brief, your budget, your timeline and your priorities. A customer who needs interest free credit and wants a kitchen next month has different needs to a customer who wants a truly unique specification and is happy to wait twelve weeks for something exceptional. Both are legitimate briefs and both deserve an honest recommendation rather than a one size fits all answer.
What we hope this guide has demonstrated is that the kitchen market is significantly broader and more interesting than the names on the high street suggest. The brands most homeowners have heard of: Wren, Magnet, Howdens etc represent a small and not always the most compelling part of what is available. Some of the best products on the market are made by manufacturers most people have never heard of, available at prices that would surprise anyone who has only ever been quoted by a national retailer.
As a truly independent kitchen design company with trade relationships across every supplier on this list, we have no commercial reason to recommend one over another beyond which is genuinely right for you. Our revenue comes from the design service and the trade discount we negotiate not from pushing a particular brand. That independence is the most valuable thing we offer and it is reflected in our 100% five star review record.
The best way to find the right supplier for your project is not to read guides like this one. It is to have an honest conversation with someone who knows every option on the market and has no agenda beyond getting it right for you. That is exactly what our free consultation call is for.
